What is Cold Process Soap? A Yoshi & Co. Guide

At Yoshi & Co., we believe skincare should be as natural, mindful, and nourishing as possible. That’s why we craft our soaps using the traditional cold process method, a time-honored technique that transforms pure oils, butters, and botanicals into gentle, skin-loving bars.

What Exactly Is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is handmade from scratch by blending high-quality oils with a liquid, such as water or milk, and sodium hydroxide (lye). This mixture undergoes saponification, the chemical reaction that creates soap and naturally hydrating glycerin.
Unlike mass-produced soaps, cold process soaps contain no harsh detergents, and the glycerin remains intact, giving your skin the gentle care it deserves.
At Yoshi & Co., every bar is created in small batches with care so that each soap is as unique as the people who use it.

How Our Soaps Are Made

  • Lye meets liquid – We carefully prepare a lye solution, often with nourishing alternatives like herbal infusions or plant-based milks.

  • Blending oils & butters – Coconut oil, shea butter, olive oil, and other skin-loving ingredients are combined for the perfect balance.

  • Saponification in action – The magic begins as oils and lye react to form soap.

  • Natural enhancements – From rose petals to charcoal, every extra ingredient has a purpose for your skin.

  • Molding & curing – Bars are hand-poured into molds, then cured for 4–6 weeks to harden and become gentle on the skin.

More Than Soap, A Yoshi & Co. Experience

Cold process soapmaking takes patience, but at Yoshi & Co., we see it as a labor of love. The result is long-lasting, natural soaps that look beautiful, smell incredible, and most importantly, leave your skin feeling cared for.
Every bar is more than just soap, it’s a reflection of our philosophy: simple, natural, and made with intention.
